Henderson County, NC – Deputies and firefighters responded Wednesday to a house explosion that sent two people to the hospital, according to deputies.

Maj. Frank Stout, with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, said calls reporting an explosion on Kyles Creek Road and Terry’s Gap Road started coming into dispatchers just after 1 p.m.

That’s in the Fruitland community.

Firefighters from Fletcher Fire and Rescue responded to the call, officials said.

Due to the extent of those injuries, Henderson County EMS requested that two Mountain Air Medical Ambulances respond to the scene, officials said.

They said both patients were taken to a burn center, but they did not release the name of the hospital.

Officials said the investigation by the Henderson County Fire Marshall’s Office was not a criminal one, but there was no immediate word on a cause.

Sky 4 flew over the scene and video showed what appeared to be smoking ash where a structure used to be.
