La Grange, KY — Oldham County authorities have identified two people who were found dead in a hotel that was evacuated due to a carbon monoxide leak.
Stacy N. Barta, 40, and John Paul Needy, 39, were identified Monday in an update from the La Grange Police Department.
The coroner’s office has not confirmed how Barta and Needy died. Officials are still waiting for autopsy results from the state medical examiner’s office.
On Friday, La Grange police said they evacuated the hotel after Barta and Needy were found dead. For hours, police and firefighters had the hotel closed off because they said the carbon monoxide levels were too high.
Ballardsville and South Oldham fire also assisted with the evacuation.
Police said another guest who was evacuated was taken to a hospital because he was exhibiting symptoms of exposure to carbon monoxide.
The hotel was reopened around 9 p.m. Friday.
