San Diego, CA – One man was injured Tuesday by a natural gas flash fire at a restaurant in Rancho Bernardo, fire officials said.
The explosion and fire happened before 11:30 a.m. at the Bernardo Restauran in the 12400 block of Rancho Bernardo Road. The victim, a restaurant worker, suffered burns to his hands when he tried to light a gas grill in the kitchen and a small explosion occurred, a fire department spokesman said.
The restaurant’s automatic sprinkler system put out the fire before three fire crews arrived at the scene.
The victim was taken to a local hospital. His condition was not immediately known.
