OR – Crews from the Hoodland Fire Department and other agencies battled a blaze started by a gas explosion at condominiums in Government Camp – in the heart of the Mount Hood winter sports area.

A Clackamas County emergency dispatcher say the explosion happened just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported in the blaze at the Collins Lake Resort project.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze in subfreezing temperatures.

Volunteers from the American Red Cross, Oregon Trail Chapter, also responded. Chapter spokesman Thomas McCann says the group planned to provide food for residents and emergency responders.

Authorities said they didn’t know immediately what caused the gas leak.
